Mini Food

I love to cook, so I make sure that my dollhouse kitchen is stocked with plenty of mini foods. I love making mini cakes and cookies for the holidays, as well. Most of my foods are made with polymer clay, but I also like to work with resin, as well.

My minis may all be packed up but I can’t stop m My minis may all be packed up but I can’t stop making more! With all the rain we’ve had, I saw moss pop up everywhere on my walks. And I got inspired.

I made some mini terrariums and created this greenhouse from a lantern.

Why do these cute mini things make me smile so much?

Christmas this year was not what I had hoped or im Christmas this year was not what I had hoped or imagined, but the kids and I still managed to celebrate together and have a wonderful time together.

This year’s tree is only 4ft tall but my daughter and I decorated it with those adorable felt animals from @target. During the off-season, they are perfectly sized for the dollhouse. Yay!

I hope you all are able to find peace, love and joy during the holiday season. 💚❤️🎄

Unfortunately, I have had to stop working on my mi Unfortunately, I have had to stop working on my miniatures and dollhouse as I am in the process of moving.

I have tenderly packed up most of my minis. My clay, tools and all of my other supplies are in bins and packed away.

Don’t ask how many boxes of Legos my 3 kids have accumulated all these years. Yeah, they’re coming with us too.

I’m sad that I won’t be able to work on my minis for a few months. We have to sell the big house and find a new place to move into. In the meantime, the kids and I will stay with my parents.

I am looking forward to my next chapter in life and my new home. The goal is to find a place that is ME, where I can be as creative and as crazy as I want.

No one will ever keep me from being able to express myself again.

And of course, I’m looking forward to a fabulous new kitchen so I can continue to create recipes and shoot photos and videos on my alter ego @familyspice.

For now, the dollhouse is clean and decluttered, like the big house. We have an open house this weekend and both homes are spic and span and ready to shine.

Fingers crossed for a quick sale and a smooth transition to my next adventure.

Making these minis really teaches you patience. I find the process to be super relaxing and therapeutic.

Hopefully my tomatoes this year will be as fruitful as a few years ago. Swipe to see some gorgeous real garden tomatoes I grew.

What are you hoping to grow in your garden?

When you are drowning from so much sad news from a When you are drowning from so much sad news from around the world it is hard to keep moving forward. So I made this mini scene to support the wonderful people in Ukraine during this awful time.

I purchased the artwork, vibrant gift tags and embroidery pattern used to make the rug as digital downloads from Ukrainian artists on @etsy. A small way to help those in need.

So many talented miniaturists live in both Ukraine and Russia. So many millions of people are against this war.

Not everyone is on instagram but a special shout out to the artists I featured:

Spring will be here officially in two weeks, March Spring will be here officially in two weeks, March 20th. The Persian New Year, Nowruz, marks the first day of the Persian New Year and the first day of spring.

The celebration of Nowruz dates back over 3000 years ago during the Zorastrian rule of the Persian Empire and is celebrated by many middle easterners regardless of being muslim, jewish or christian.

I am half Persian. And to celebrate Nowruz we put out this table scape. This year I decided to recreate the haft sin in miniature.

Haft Sin means Seven S’s and our table has these seven items that start with the letter ’s’. We also include other items.

1. Sabzeh – wheat, barley or lentil sprouts growing in a dish – symbolizing rebirth
2. Samanoo – a sweet pudding made from wheat germ – symbolizing affluence
3. Senjed – the dried fruit of the oleaster tree – symbolizing love
4. Seer – garlic – symbolizing medicine
5. Seeb – apples – symbolizing beauty and health
6. Sumaq – sumac berries – symbolizing (the color of) sunrise
7. Serkeh – vinegar – symbolizing age and patience

Other items shown:
▪ Sonbol – Hyacinth (plant)
▪ Sekkeh – Coins – representative of wealth
▪ Traditional Iranian pastries. I made mini naan-keshmishi (saffron raisin cookies)
▪ Candles (enlightenment and happiness)
▪ A mirror (symbolizing cleanness and honesty)
▪ Decorated eggs, sometimes one for each member of the family (fertility)
▪ A bowl of water with goldfish (symbolizing life)
▪ Seven branches from gnarled trees (I used grapevines) (symbolizes our life’s passage)
▪ A holy book (from the household’s particular religion)

With so much sadness with the invasion of Ukraine, I thought I’d share a little bit of hope and beauty with you.

Eide shoma mobarak: happy new year to you ❤️
